Which Payment Processor is Ideal for Indian Indie Entrepreneurs?

I am curious if any independent developer or entrepreneur in India has successfully built a revenue-generating side project.

Which payment processing solution do you currently employ to handle transactions? I have noticed that some popular services, like the one requiring invitations, may not be accessible to every startup.

Could you share your personal experience with your chosen payment gateway and discuss any challenges you faced? Your insights on alternative, reliable payment platforms suitable for the Indian market would be highly valued.

Hey everyone, I’m pretty stoked to join this discussion! I’ve been tinkering with CCAvenue for my own project, and while it definitely had its ups and downs, I found it worked well given the unique challenges we Indians face. Setting up was initially quite a process—there were a ton of configurations to juggle, and I remember scratching my head at the documentation for a while—but once everything was in place, the flexibility in customizing payment pages really helped me craft an experience suited to my user base. I did run into a few bumps during high traffic periods, especially with settlement time delays, but the customer support was surprisingly on top of things when I reached out. It got me thinking: has anyone else had to cope with similar issues or found any clever workarounds to optimize transactions at peak times? Also, I’m curious if others have ventured into combining multiple gateways for a more robust fail-over system. What have your experiences been like with blending different tech, and how did you manage reliability? Would love to hear more insights and keep this conversation rolling!

hey all, im using paytm paymnt gateway for my small project. setup was a bit messy but it quickly got less buggy. refunds sometime take a while tho, so it isnt flawless. still, its a decent choice for indie devs looking for a cost effective option.

i’ve been using razorpay for my side project. integration felt a bit messy at times but its pricing and support make up for it. if you’re just starting, it works pretty well overall, even though fund transfers can be a tad slower.

My experience with payment processors in the Indian startup environment has led me to try both Instamojo and PayUMoney. I found Instamojo particularly convenient for setting up smaller projects due to its easy onboarding and streamlined dashboard, which simplifies tracking transactions. However, there are instances when delays in processing refunds or settlements became apparent, especially during high traffic periods. PayUMoney, on the other hand, offered a more robust API and better reliability for recurring payments. It is crucial to balance transaction fees, ease of integration, and support quality based on your particular business model.
