It’s been four months since my last update, during which significant developments have occurred worth sharing. Here’s a brief recap of my progress:
While managing a full-time job, I acquired a business and have increased its revenue from £2,000 a month to now exceeding £80,000 per month. The journey has taught me invaluable lessons, and with hindsight, there are definitely things I’d approach differently. Here’s a rough overview of my revenue for the past months:
- July: £12,000
- August: £4,000
- September: £21,000
- October: £25,000
- November (as of the 24th): £35,000 (Ended at £46,000)
Latest Updates:
- December 2023: £79,000
- January 2024: £39,000 (Stock ran out due to December sales)
- February 2024: £60,000
- March 2024: £80,000
As evident, growth is steady and consistent. I recently resigned from my full-time job and will dedicate myself entirely to this business starting in May 2024. I look forward to the future and further growth.
Challenges faced over the last four months include:
- Managing cash flow due to large stock purchases, ensuring there’s enough liquidity for growth and advertising (profit does not equal cash flow).
- Forecasting stock to prevent sellouts.
- Keeping Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) as we scale.
- Balancing my day job with this increasingly time-consuming venture (a concern that will soon be resolved).
- Customer service improvements by hiring additional support.
- Navigating VAT impacts on our margins (UK-based).
I am also exploring new opportunities and eager to connect with others on similar paths, so please feel free to leave any questions in the comments!
Yo, this is mad inspirational! everything you’ve done while having a full-time job is wicked. Stock issues can be tough but leveling up like this ain’t easy. Keep up the hustle and share more tips if you can. Also, how do you decide which products to focus on? Bet lots wanna kno!
Your journey is quite enlightening! One thing that strikes me is the emphasis on managing cash flow and forecasting stock levels effectively. These are areas where many e-commerce businesses, especially those scaling quickly, often falter. What systems or tools have you employed to keep a tight grip on cash flow? Would also love to know about your VAT strategy, considering it can be a complex area with significant impacts on profitability. Your ability to balance work and business until now is commendable, but now that you’re focusing on this venture full-time, do you anticipate shifting your business operations or strategy? Excited to see where this can lead you in the next few years.
hey ethan, props for the insane growth! juggling a full-time gig and e-commerce is no joke. how do you handle the stress of it all? any tips on staying sane with such a busy schedule? also curious if there was a pivotal moment or decision that really boosted your revenue? keep us posted!
Wow, Ethan_Cosmos, your progress is nothing short of incredible! It’s really inspiring to see how you’ve managed to juggle a full-time job with building what seems like a successful e-commerce business. I’m curious, what strategies did you find most effective in managing your time between your job and the business? Also, when hiring additional support for customer service, did you face any challenges in finding the right fit, and how did you handle training them? Can’t wait to see where you go next.
Hope you’re more than ready to dive in full-time! What do you envision your business looking like in another year or so? Would love to hear more about your vision for growth and what excites you most about it!
