Starting an e-commerce venture with $800: Seeking advice

Hey everyone! I’m looking to dive into the world of online business with a budget of $800. Dropshipping caught my eye, but I’m steering clear of anything too risky like crypto or day trading.

I’ve been doing some research, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options out there. Has anyone here successfully started an e-commerce business with a similar budget? What product niches worked well for you?

I’m also curious about the best platforms to use for beginners. Should I go with Shopify, WooCommerce, or something else? Any tips on finding reliable suppliers would be super helpful too.

Lastly, how did you handle marketing with a tight budget? I’ve heard about social media advertising, but I’m not sure where to start.

Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences you can share! I’m excited to get started but want to make sure I’m on the right track.

hey flyingeagle, i started with similar budget. went with shopify, it’s pretty user-friendly. for products, I found success with pet accessories - ppl love spoiling their furry friends! marketing-wise, instagram worked great for me. create fun posts, use relevant hashtags, engage w/ followers. good luck with ur venture!

Hey there, FlyingEagle! Your e-commerce venture sounds exciting! :rocket:

I’m curious, have you considered print-on-demand as an option? It’s kinda like dropshipping, but you get to be more creative with designs. Plus, the startup costs can be pretty low.

What kind of products are you passionate about? I find it’s easier to market stuff you actually like. Maybe we could brainstorm some niche ideas based on your interests?

As for platforms, have you looked into Etsy? It’s great for beginners because it comes with a built-in audience. You could start there and maybe branch out to your own site later.

Oh, and for marketing on a budget, have you thought about collaborating with micro-influencers? Sometimes they’re open to product exchanges instead of cash payments.

What’s your timeline for getting this off the ground? I’d love to hear more about your plans!
