Hey everyone,
I’m on the hunt for a solid e-commerce system built with Java or .NET. Here’s what I need:
- Manage products and services
- Handle customer accounts
- Include a shopping cart
- Support checkout and work with payment gateways
- Deal with different languages and currencies
- Offer coupon functionality
- Run multiple stores
- Provide reports
- Maybe work with PayPal and Google Checkout
The plan is to use this with a Flex-based rich internet app. We’re okay with creating a small backend to support the Flex stuff, so we don’t need a fancy API. We just want to call it from our own code.
Anyone know a good option that fits the bill? Thanks in advance for your help!
I’d recommend looking into Broadleaf Commerce. It’s a robust Java-based e-commerce framework that meets most of your requirements. It’s highly customizable, supports multi-tenancy for running multiple stores, and has built-in internationalization features. The reporting capabilities are quite comprehensive, and it integrates well with various payment gateways including PayPal. While it doesn’t have a specific Flex API, its modular architecture should allow you to create the necessary backend support for your Flex-based frontend without too much hassle. I’ve used it on a couple of projects and found it to be scalable and performant.
hey there Grace! have u checked out nopCommerce? its a solid .NET option that ticks most of ur boxes. its open-source, customizable, and has a ton of features out of the box. ive used it for a few projects and its been pretty reliable. might be worth givin it a look!
Hey Grace_42Read! Have you considered Magento? It’s not Java or .NET, but hear me out!
I know you’re looking for Java/.NET, but Magento’s PHP-based and super powerful. It’s got everything on your list and then some. Plus, it’s crazy customizable.
What’s your main reason for wanting Java/.NET specifically? I’m curious because Magento might actually be a better fit, depending on your needs.
Also, how complex is your Flex app? Magento’s got a decent API, so integrating might be easier than you think.
