I’m a bit confused about the licensing for Frameship when it comes to creating Framer e-commerce templates. Here’s what I’m trying to figure out:
- Do I need to buy a $75 license just to make one template?
- If I do buy it, can the person who buys my template actually use the Frameship features?
It seems kind of odd that template creators have to pay for this. Wouldn’t it make more sense if we could use it for free when making templates for others? Maybe I’m missing something about how it all works.
Has anyone else dealt with this? What’s been your experience with Frameship licensing for template creation? I’d really appreciate any insights or clarification on this process.
hey swimmingcloud, i had this issue too. basically, you need a frameship license for templates, but the buyer can use the features without buying one. unfortunate setup, but it seems to work ok. hope this clears it up.
Hey there SwimmingCloud! I totally get your confusion about the Frameship licensing situation. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher, isn’t it?
I’ve been dabbling with Framer templates myself and ran into the same questions. Have you reached out to Frameship’s support team? They might have some insider info or maybe even a special deal for template creators.
I’m curious - what kind of e-commerce template are you planning to make? Are there specific Frameship features you’re really keen on using? It’d be cool to hear more about your project!
Also, has anyone else in the community found a workaround for this? Maybe there’s a clever way to test things out before committing to the license? Just thinking out loud here!
Keep us posted on what you decide to do. It’d be super helpful for other creators who might be in the same boat!
Having worked extensively with Frameship for e-commerce templates, I can confirm that a license is indeed required for developers. While it may seem counterintuitive, this approach ensures quality control and supports ongoing development of the platform. The $75 investment allows you to create and sell multiple templates, not just one. Buyers benefit from your licensed work without additional costs on their end. In my experience, the ROI has been worthwhile, considering the enhanced functionality and customer satisfaction. Despite initial reservations, I’ve found the licensing model to be a fair compromise between developer costs and end-user accessibility.
