At 17, I’m looking forward to graduating and heading to boot camp soon. I will be returning to MEPS shortly to finalize my enlistment, with plans to depart in July, although I haven’t received an exact date yet. I scored a 42 on the ASVAB, and I’m considering logistics and engineering as my preferred career fields. My goal is to have a job that allows me to travel, engage in exciting tasks, and provides transferable skills for civilian employment. Additionally, will I have opportunities to handle firearms while serving in logistics?
logistics is solid. u’ll gain skills in supply chain and management, plus it’s transferrable. Travel depends on assignment but abilty to go various bases. In logistics, firearms use isn’t primary, but basic trainin will be there. Look into specialties like air transport or naval logistics if u want more adventure.
Hey there! Logistics could definitely be a great choice, especially if you’re keen on developing skills that are both valuable in the military and useful afterwards in the civilian world. It’s interesting that you mentioned a desire for exciting tasks and travel. The logistics field can vary greatly depending on where you’re stationed and your specific role, which could give you those opportunities to move around.
Have you considered speaking to service members already working in logistics? They might offer some personal insights and share what the daily life is like, balancing routine duties with unique experiences. Also, if you’re interested in engineering too, some logistics roles have a technical aspect which might satisfy that engineering itch! How important is being hands-on with technology or equipment for you?
