Looking for an affordable, intuitive solution to manage video production inventory and gear rentals. The system should offer custom tagging, gear assignment, QR code tracking, and ideally open API support.
I have dealt with several inventory and rental systems over the years and one solution that stood out provided a balance between affordability and functionality. The system I used allowed seamless integration with our existing workflows by incorporating custom tagging and QR code tracking. It also offered open API support, which made it easier to tailor the solution to unique production needs. Having a user-friendly interface was essential, especially when multiple team members ran updates asynchronously. It was impressive how quickly the gear assignment feature streamlined our daily operations and reduced downtime.
Hey everyone, diving into our gear tracking discussion, I’ve been playing around with a system in-house that ties rough-cut open-source tech with a bit of custom coding. I cobbled together something that lets me manage inventory in real time, and it worked pretty well for my small video production gigs. It didn’t break the bank and allowed for tagging, QR code integration, and even though it wasn’t plug-and-play, dealing with the open API gave me a lot of flexibility to mold it to my workflow. I was a bit nervous when I started, but I found that understanding the hardware side of things really added to the workflow’s efficiency. I’m really curious, has anyone else taken a DIY approach to this? Or maybe found some middle-ground between off-the-shelf systems and building from scratch? How do you all handle updates and maintenance in your setups? Would love to hear your experiences or any roadblocks you might have hit along the way!
hey, im using a weird but effective setup that does the job. its a bit buggy sometimes with tagging and qr stuff but open api lets me fix issues fast. may not be perfect, but works good for shoots. anyone else got similar setups?
