CS-Ecom Merger Led Me to Quit After 18+ Years

I’m using a throwaway account to protect my former colleagues who I still talk to. I kept my TL position after the CS-Ecom merger, but with no extra pay on a high-volume team that grew to 86 TMs. The workload was like having the job of three people. E-com alone is already a two-person job in high-volume stores. Adding to this, labor distribution stayed split, with cuts to CS labor. The added responsibility with no extra pay hurt our team. I couldn’t even charge my labor to E-com without affecting metrics. Both my and my CS ATL’s workload increased, leading us to unfair situations. After more than 18 years with WFM and the Amazon merger changes, I’d had enough. This merger ruined my chances of becoming an ASTL. My team also struggled with fewer cashiers and more responsibilities. I felt I could no longer represent WFM as a leader. To other CS-Ecom TLs, consider leaving. I found a similar role with better conditions elsewhere. This merger is one of WFM’s biggest mistakes, and I doubt it will last without changes. WFM is now just an Amazon name used for familiarity. I missed the survey but would have spoken my mind.

Your situation sounds incredibly challenging, and it’s clear that the merger put many employees like you in difficult positions. Post-merger transitions can be tough, especially when they result in an increased workload without offering additional support or compensation. It’s not uncommon to hear that such changes lead to feelings of burnout and dissatisfaction, as companies often fail to adequately address the human element in these transitions. Moving to another role with better conditions elsewhere was a smart move on your part. It’s crucial to work in an environment where you feel valued and supported. I hope you’re finding your new position more fulfilling and manageable. Those still in similar situations should consider their options and push for more support from their management.

Ugh, that merger sounds like it was really tough on you and your team. It’s not fair having more responsbility without extra support or pay. Glad you found a better job. hopefull WFM realizes their mistake soon!

Wow, Daisy, your experience really highlights the tough realities many face after corporate mergers. It’s so frustrating when added responsibilities come with no extra compensation or support. I imagine the stress of managing such a large team under those conditions was immense. I’m curious, what kind of discussions (if any) did you and your team have with upper management about these challenges? Also, for those still in similar roles, what advice would you give them on handling the workload and the potential burnout? Hearing how others have navigated these difficulties could be really helpful for everyone dealing with similar issues.
