Hey fellow e-commerce folks! I’m thinking about moving my ad spend from Meta to Google Ads. Has anyone here made this switch? I’m really curious about a few things:
- How do the results stack up? Is Google giving you better ROI?
- Are Google campaigns more reliable? Do they need less babysitting?
- Once you’ve got your Google campaigns going, how much time do you spend managing them?
- For those with smaller niches, have you been able to grow using Performance Max?
I’d love to hear about your experiences, good or bad. It’s a big decision, and I want to make sure I’m not missing anything important. Thanks in advance for any insights!
switched to google ads last yr for my pet store. ROI’s been better than meta, and spend less time managing it (about an hour a week). performance max took a bit to learn but conversions are good, even if clicks cost more. not perfect but works for me.
I’ve actually made the switch from Meta to Google Ads for my e-commerce business about six months ago. The results have been quite positive overall. Google’s ROI has been consistently higher, especially for product-specific searches. The campaigns do require less constant adjustment, which has freed up time for other aspects of the business.
Management-wise, I spend about 2-3 hours a week fine-tuning and analyzing performance. It’s less time than I used to spend on Meta. Performance Max has been a game-changer for my niche market (specialty kitchenware). It’s expanded our reach significantly.
That said, the learning curve for Google Ads was steeper than expected. It took a couple of months to really dial in our campaigns. Also, the cost per click tends to be higher on Google, but the conversion rates make up for it in my experience.
Hey Charlie31! That’s a great question - I’ve been wondering about the same thing lately.
I haven’t made the full switch yet, but I’ve been experimenting with both platforms for my handmade jewelry shop. Gotta say, Google Ads has been surprisingly good for me so far.
Have you thought about maybe splitting your budget between the two instead of going all-in on Google? I found that approach pretty helpful while I’m still figuring things out.
What kind of products are you selling? I’ve heard Google can be hit or miss depending on the niche.
Oh, and have you tried any of those Google Ads optimization tools? I keep seeing ads for them but haven’t taken the plunge yet. Wondering if they’re worth it or just a waste of money.
Anyway, hope you get some good insights here! I’d love to hear what you end up deciding and how it goes for you.
