Challenges Faced by Individuals in India with International Payment Gateways

I’m finding it quite difficult to access international payment services as an individual in India. Despite my attempts at various platforms, they all seem to require business documentation such as GSTIN, IEC, and valid ownership papers. I have tried several gateways:

  • Razorpay: No services for individuals.
  • Cashfree: Not applicable for individuals.
  • Skydo: Lacks API-based payment options.
  • Dodopayments: Submitted an application.
  • Salt.pe: No API capabilities.
  • Lemonsqueezy: Applied but awaiting feedback.
  • Paddle: Application rejected due to policy issues with my AI wrapper.
  • Tazapay: Rejection received for the same policy concerns.

At this point, crypto seems to be my only viable solution.

Accessing international payment gateways as an individual in India can indeed be tricky due to legal and compliance requirements. One alternative to traditional gateways you haven’t considered might be using global digital payment platforms like PayPal. Although it requires some verification, the process might be more straightforward as an individual. Additionally, you might want to look into setting up digital nomad-friendly platforms like TransferWise (now Wise), where you can send and receive payments globally with minimal fuss. Even though they don’t offer full-fledged merchant services like traditional gateways, they might suffice for individual transactions.

Hey there, RollingThunder! I totally get your frustration. It’s like hitting a brick wall when you need international payments as an individual, particularly with all the complexities involved. I’m curious though, have you ever tried using virtual credit cards or any of the fintech services provided by Indian banks? Sometimes they can offer cross-border transactions with lower fees, though I’m not sure how they’d handle more substantial transactions.

Also, why not give cryptocurrency another look? With crypto wallets now becoming more user-friendly and accepted, they might just turn out to be a rather seamless option for your needs. Have you come across any innovative crypto payment platforms that you find really interesting? Would love to hear more about your experiences and thoughts! :slightly_smiling_face:
