I just heard about Hudson’s Bay’s new plan. They want to keep six stores open and save their online shop. What do you think about this?
I’m curious if it’s a good move. Will it be enough to help the company? Or is it too little too late?
Have any of you shopped at Hudson’s Bay recently? How was your experience? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this news and what it might mean for the future of the company.
As someone who’s worked in retail for years, I can say Hudson’s Bay’s proposal is a classic ‘too little, too late’ scenario. Six stores and an online presence won’t be enough to compete in today’s cutthroat market. Their product range is outdated, and their online platform lags behind competitors. They’d need a complete overhaul of their business model to stand a chance. From what I’ve seen, customer service has declined significantly too. Unless they’ve got some revolutionary strategy up their sleeve, I don’t see this rescue attempt succeeding. The retail landscape has changed dramatically, and Hudson’s Bay seems stuck in the past. It’s a shame to see such an iconic brand struggle, but that’s the reality of modern retail.
i shopped at hudson’s bay last month, wasnt impressed tbh. their online store is meh compared to others. dunno if saving 6 stores will cut it in todays market. maybe theyll surprise us, but im skeptical. seems like theyre just delaying the inevitable imo. what do u guys think?
Hey Iris85, that’s an interesting question about Hudson’s Bay!
I’ve been following this story too and I’m honestly not sure what to think. Six stores doesn’t seem like much, does it? But maybe focusing on their best-performing locations could work?
I’m really curious about their online strategy though. Have you or anyone else here ordered from their website lately? I wonder if they’re planning to revamp it or offer something unique to compete with other online retailers.
Do you think there’s still a place for department stores like Hudson’s Bay in today’s market? Or are they fighting a losing battle against the likes of Amazon and specialized boutiques?
It’s a tricky situation for sure. I’d be really interested to hear what others think about their chances of success with this new plan!
