Strange behavior: E-commerce data only visible for '(not set)' country in Google Analytics

I’m having a weird issue with Google Analytics 4. When I try to view e-commerce data by country, only the ‘(not set)’ category shows any information. It’s really frustrating!

I made a table using the explore function to check different countries and their add to cart and revenue stats. But for some reason, all the actual countries are blank. Only the ‘(not set)’ row has any data in it.

What’s even stranger is that I’m seeing the same problem with device categories. When I look at that breakdown, only ‘Desktop’ shows any e-commerce data. The other device types are empty.

Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas on what might be causing it or how to fix it? I’m pretty confused about why GA4 is behaving this way. Thanks for any help!

Hey there, ExploringAtom! That’s a really weird problem you’re having with GA4. I’ve seen some funky stuff with analytics before, but this is a new one for me. Have you checked if maybe there’s some kind of filter accidentally applied? Sometimes those can mess things up without us realizing it.

Also, I’m kinda curious - when did you first notice this issue? Did it happen suddenly or has it always been like this since you set up GA4? It might give us a clue about what’s going on.

Oh, and have you tried looking at the raw data in BigQuery (if you’re using that)? Sometimes it can show you stuff that doesn’t appear in the GA4 interface for whatever reason.

This is a real head-scratcher! Let us know if you figure it out or if you need more ideas. I’m super interested to see what the solution ends up being!

I’ve encountered similar issues with GA4 before. It’s likely a data collection problem. First, double-check your tracking code implementation. Make sure you’re using the correct GA4 measurement ID and that the code is placed on all pages. Also, verify that your e-commerce events are firing correctly. You can use the GA4 DebugView to see if the data is being sent properly. If everything looks good there, it might be a configuration issue within GA4 itself. Check your data streams and make sure e-commerce tracking is enabled. Sometimes, it can take a day or two for data to populate correctly, so give it some time as well. If the problem persists, you might want to reach out to Google Analytics support for more specific troubleshooting.

hey there, i’ve seen this before! it’s usually a tracking issue. check ur GA4 config, especially the ecommerce settings. make sure ur sending country & device data correctly. sometimes it’s just a delay in processing too. keep an eye on it for a few days, might sort itself out!
