Looking for paid e-commerce and CMS solutions built for Rails

Hey Rails community!

I’m on the hunt for some premium e-commerce and content management system (CMS) packages that are specifically designed to work with Ruby on Rails. Has anyone come across any solid options?

I’ve been searching around but haven’t found much beyond open-source stuff. I’m really hoping to find some well-supported commercial solutions that can handle both online store functionality and content management.

If you’ve used any paid Rails-friendly e-commerce or CMS packages in your projects, I’d love to hear about your experiences. What features did you like? Any drawbacks to watch out for?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! I’m excited to see what’s out there for Rails in this space.

Hey Sophie26! Have you considered Shoppe? It’s a lesser-known but pretty neat e-commerce engine for Rails. I stumbled upon it for a client project and was pleasantly surprised. It’s not free, but the pricing is reasonable.

For CMS, have you looked into Comfortable Mexican Sofa? Quirky name, I know, but it’s a powerful Rails-specific CMS with both free and paid versions. The paid version comes with some nifty extras and support.

I’m curious - what kind of products are you planning to sell? And what specific CMS features are you after? Might help narrow down the best fit for your needs.

Anyone else here used Shoppe or Comfortable Mexican Sofa? Would love to hear more experiences!

I’d recommend taking a look at Solidus, a fork of Spree that offers paid support plans. It’s a comprehensive e-commerce solution built specifically for Rails. As for CMS, ButterCMS is a solid option with a Rails SDK and paid plans. It’s headless, so it integrates well with existing Rails apps. I’ve used both in client projects and found them reliable and well-documented. The main drawback is the learning curve, especially with Solidus, but the robust features make up for it. Just be prepared for some initial setup time to get everything configured to your needs.

hey Sophie26, have you looked into Spree Commerce? It’s a robust ecommerce platform for Rails with paid support options. For CMS, Refinery might be worth checking out - not strictly paid but has commercial addons. I’ve used both and they’re pretty solid, tho setup can be a bit fiddly. Hope that helps!
