I placed an order for a 2024 Maverick XL back in November 2023, only to learn that a backup camera recall means my car will never be delivered. Am I being misled by my dealership, or is this a widespread issue?

I’m not interested in switching to the 2025 model, yet I wasn’t offered any alternatives for an upgrade. Does this leave me with the sole choice of paying several extra thousand dollars to acquire a previously owned vehicle, or might there be another solution available?

My personal experience with similar manufacturer recalls suggests that this isn’t solely a dealership issue, but rather relates to broader production delays and compliance changes. When I faced a recall for my order, the manufacturer clarified that their implementation timeline was affecting multiple dealers. I found that maintaining close communication with both the dealership and the manufacturer provided updated timelines and occasionally alternative vehicle configurations. It might be worthwhile to request a comprehensive update and see if any additional incentives or customized options become available as the situation evolves.

from my side its about mfg issues, not only dealer misleadng. i had a similar issue and after a lot of follow up i got a compensetion bonus. might be good to keep pressing both ends, you’ll likely get a few choices if u push hard enough.
