Hey folks, I need some advice. I’ve been doing Google Ads for about a year and a half, mostly for service businesses. Now I’ve got a chance to work with an e-commerce client selling expensive jackets. It’s a whole new ball game for me.
I’m used to lead gen taking a few months to really get going. But this jacket business is seasonal, so I’ve only got about 4 months to make it work. I’m thinking I can get sales rolling within a month. Am I being too optimistic?
My plan is to start with a search campaign using phrase and exact match keywords. I want to avoid broad match because these jackets cost over $500. Once things are moving, I might add a Performance Max campaign.
So basically, I want to get that first sale within 30 days, then focus on increasing sales and scaling up. Does this sound like a solid plan? What unexpected challenges should I watch out for?
Any tips from those who’ve done both lead gen and e-commerce would be super helpful. Thanks!
hey grace! ive done both lead gen and ecommerce, it’s def different. your plan sounds ok but dont expect sales in 30 days for expensive stuff. ppl take time to decide on $500 jackets ya know?
have u thought bout retargeting? super important for pricey items. also, make sure ur product pics are amazing. ppl wanna see every detail before dropping that kinda cash.
good luck with the new gig! let us know how it goes
Hey Grace_42Read, sounds like you’ve got an exciting challenge ahead! I’ve been in your shoes before, transitioning from lead gen to e-commerce. It’s definitely a different beast, but totally doable!
Your plan sounds solid, but I’d caution against expecting that first sale within 30 days. High-ticket items like $500 jackets often have a longer consideration period. Have you thought about retargeting campaigns? They can be super effective for pricier products.
One thing that caught me off guard was the importance of product imagery. With expensive jackets, people want to see every detail. Are your product photos top-notch?
Also, have you considered influencer marketing? It could be a game-changer for seasonal, high-end fashion. Maybe there are some fashion bloggers or Instagrammers who’d be a perfect fit?
Just curious, what’s your strategy for cart abandonment? With pricey items, it’s super common and a great opportunity to nudge people towards purchase.
Keep us posted on how it goes! I’m really interested to see how you tackle this.
Transitioning to e-commerce can be tricky, especially with high-end seasonal products. Your plan is solid, but I’d suggest tempering expectations on that 30-day first sale goal. Expensive jackets often have a longer consideration period.
Have you considered incorporating remarketing campaigns? They’re crucial for high-ticket items. People might need multiple touchpoints before committing to a $500+ purchase.
Also, don’t underestimate the power of social proof. Customer reviews, testimonials, and user-generated content can significantly boost conversions for premium products. Maybe explore ways to showcase these on your landing pages and in your ad copy.
Lastly, given the seasonal nature, you might want to front-load your budget. Aggressive early advertising could help capture market share before competitors ramp up their efforts. Just keep a close eye on your ROI and be ready to pivot quickly if needed.
Remember, patience and continuous optimization are key in e-commerce. Good luck with your new venture!
